It begins with the Solar Panels
The PV or the photovoltaic effect causes the cells to release electrons that cause a direct current to be produced in the cell. When a number of such cells are connected together, it forms a PV or Solar Panel as it is commonly called. These panels capture sunlight during the day and convert it into Direct Current (DC). When a number of such panels are arranged together, they form an array which generates power in the form of Direct Current. The size and number of panels in an array will determine the amount of power converted from Solar Energy to Electrical Energy.
Panels are usually installed on the rooftop so as to get maximum exposure to the sun, either in North or North West. Present day Solar Power Systems are not only efficient to produce high yields of energy but are durable to last longer with minimal maintenance. Panels are known to come with a 25 years performance warranty.
Which connect to the Inverter
An inverter inverts the direct current (DC) into alternating current (AC). Alternating current is the standard format of electricity that is used by all the commercial appliances across the globe. This AC electricity is sent to the electrical panels via inverter to power everything from Refrigerators and Washing Machines to large scale industrial equipments with solar energy. The electrical panel is also known as a “breaker box”.
That feeds the Utility meter and the Grid
Even though you have installed solar system at your home or business, yet you are always connected to grid. This is to ensure continuous supply of electricity in case of emergencies. Like on a cloudy day or at night time. However, the cost is offset by the excess solar electricity fed back into the grid, generated by your solar system panel during the daytime. To measure your energy consumption a Utility Meter is used which goes backward when more power is generated than consumed.
