Federal Battery Rebate Announced!
Save Big with the Cheaper Home Batteries Program!
Starting July 1, 2025 – Save up to 30% on eligible home battery installations through a powerful new government initiative, helping you maximise your solar energy investment, lower your electricity bills, and take a big step toward a cleaner, more energy-efficient future.
💡What’s Inside the $2.3B Home Battery Package?
- The Cheaper Home Batteries Program is a $2.3 billion initiative by the Australian Government designed to support households and small businesses by making battery storage more affordable.
- Beginning 1 July 2025, eligible battery systems will receive up to a 30% discount on installation costs, helping Australians store solar energy for use when it’s needed most.
- This program is part of the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) and aims to boost solar adoption, reduce energy costs, and ease pressure on the power grid.

⚙️ Key Features of the Program
- Up to 30% Discount: Save approximately $372 per kWh of usable battery capacity (up to 50kWh).
For Homeowners & Small Businesses: Designed to support small-scale and residential battery systems.
On-Grid & Off-Grid Systems Eligible: Whether you’re connected to the grid or not, you can benefit.
Virtual Power Plant (VPP) Ready: On-grid systems must be VPP capable—but participation is optional.
Accredited Installers Only: Installations must be done or supervised by an SAA-accredited installer.
Consumer Protection & Inspections: Compliance with safety, technical, and regulatory standards is mandatory.
